CLUB TARGETS FANS OF THE FUTURE
The Spireites have issued an invitation through local primary schools so that youngsters can come to the Coca-Cola League Two match against newly-promoted Dagenham & Redbridge FC on Saturday 20 October 2007, kick-off 3.00pm.
It's part of the national One Game, One Community week of action, which the club celebrates each year, but this time the aim is to work in partnership with local primary schools.
It means that local youngsters get the chance to enjoy a game of professional football at a special reduced price, for some it may even be for the very first time. Many may choose to come again.
Schools that participate will keep part of the ticket price for school funds. They will also get the chance to win prizes to help with their fund-raising, and benefit from player visits in support of their school in the future.
"I hope that families will encourage children and their friends to take up the offer. We would love to see the ground filled with our fans of the future as we celebrate next month's One Game, One Community national week of action."
Already fifteen schools with a total of 4,000 pupils have agreed to participate and individual letters will soon be circulated to the youngsters, via their schools, to give them the chance to visit Saltergate, on a first come first served basis, for the match.
Another fourteen schools with a total of 2,000 pupils have also expressed an interest in the initiative.
Meanwhile, there is a treat in store for young fans for this Saturday's home game against Barnet when John Farnworth, the World Freestyle Football Juggling Champion will give a special display during the half-time break.
