Stoke City's highly-rated Republic of Ireland Under 21 International striker Adam Rooney has joined Chesterfield on a four month loan deal until 2 January 2008.
The 19 year old has been a prolific goalscorer for his country at Under 19 level and is the youngest ever Stoke player to score a senior hat-trick since the late Sir Stanley Matthews in the 1930's. He had a loan spell with Yeovil Town at the end of last season.
Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson said: "Adam Rooney is a versatile striker who will provide us with fresh options up front and I am delighted he is joining us."
