Pre-Season update

The Spireites travelled through Sheffield to Stocksbridge and sent the reserves through. Adam Smith made a welcome return after a knee injury and scored in a 8-1 win. Can't remember the last time we scored EIGHT in a friendly we scored seven a couple of years ago against Staveley Miners Welfare.

On the Saturday the first team travelled to newly promoted Scunthorpe United and took the lead twice through Steve Fletcher and Jack Lester but the Iron came back to equalise on both occasions.

Last Monday another reserve team outing and the Spireites travelled to Matlock in the Banner Jones Trophy and the Spireites were comfortable winners by five goals to one. An encouraging performance came from new signing Peter Leven. Sad news was the Broken toe injury to Gareth Davies who is really on a bad run at the moment.

Saturdays trip to York City started well but finished poorly and the old defensive errors came back to haunt them. Jack Lester started the scoring in the first half but York came back strongly in the second.

Tonight the Spireites reserves have travelled to Bridlington Town, where Jamie Ward is expected to play after suffering a slight hamstring injury in the game against Sheffield Wednesday.
