Big Match Preview

Are we on the brink of something special? Do we believe the talk of the New Ground will build optimism around St Margaret’s Drive? Why have our strikers not scored more goals? Why am I asking you?

Now that talk of the Play offs has been mentioned to boost Saturday’s crowd against local rivals Sheffield Wednesday, Roy Mcfarland must rally the troops for this one just as he did last season. Something tell’s me though that we aren’t going to get much from this game, Paul Sturrock will have surely told his side in no uncertain terms that last week’s home defeat to Bradford City will not be remembered and to look to the future. To be fair Wednesday have been on a fantastic run stretching back to before Christmas and have been one of the form sides culminating with a place currently inside the Play off spots.

Now that the Owls have a long injury list (we haven’t heard that one before!) maybe we could possibly sneak a result but something tell’s me that a point will be all that’s on offer for both sides.

The Spireites will welcome back Jordan Fowler after a one game suspension and he will make his way to the bench, with a word of warning though, be tough but don’t break the rules as he cruelly found out within forty seconds of the second half against Hartlepool.

The Chief limped off against Donny after ten minutes and will be missing for around two more weeks. His replacement Tcham N’toya scored his first goal for a while and a welcome one it was too the 87th minute strike was his 7th goal of the season and he tops the scoring charts. N’toya will start with Caleb Folan who needs a goal of his own after another barren run.

Capacity crowd will be expected on Saturday replacing the previous record against Manchester City in 1999. Please be on your best behaviour as there are some incidents which the police and the Football League have been aware about and the last thing we would want in our financial state is to be playing behind closed doors or anything like that.

Coming from a family that is half Sheffield Wednesday and half Chesterfield, my heart wishes a Spireite win, my head say’s Draw.
